City Branch Members Elected as New City Councillors PDF Print E-mail

Peter Smallbone and Matt Bennett were elected to Birmingham City Council on Thursday 24th April 2008.

Pete Smallbone is a former Chairman of City Branch and is the newly elected Councillor for Quinton Ward.  A City Centre resident, he put up a hard fought campaign. Last Thursday's win means that David Cameron's rejuvinated Conservatives now hold all of the local Council wards in the Birmingham Edgbaston constituency.

In Stockland Green Matt Bennett, a long standing City Branch member, ran an intense and effective campaign which resulted in a fantastic victory and the election of the ward's first Conservative Councillor.

Throughout the campaign, City Branch members played an active role - delivering leaflets, knocking on doors and even on election day taking part in a 6.45am dawn raid! Tim Crockford said "It was a great fun and hugely rewarding to see the enormous efforts of our volunteers paying off. We are all thrilled with the result." Congratulations to Pete and Matt.
